New Horizons School is a busy place!
Friday, April 25th, some interesting projects were going on in the
afternoon. An electronic remote control vehicle was put together from a
kit, and then "driven" around the school.
 The kindergarten children
worked together on painting the continents of the earth for a large
model of the globe.
On Wednesday, April 23rd, the students and residents
from Dominican Oaks, completed this year's "We Have Stories to Tell"
sessions. You can learn more about this collaboration between the Santa
Cruz County Library Services, Dominican Oaks, and New Horizons School

here. Here are some pictures of the students working with the
volunteers at Dominican Oaks:
   Here are
some pictures of our last session held at New Horizons School:

On
Friday, March 21st, the students celebrated one little girl's birthday
with a bunny cake donated by a very nice lady, and Easter. The giant
Easter baskets were from students at Good Shepherd School and Holy Cross
School. The kids loved all the wonderful gifts in their baskets!
 Ms.
Castro's class has been working on making masks. Here are pictures of
the kids working on the foundation of their masks.
 On February 8th,
we celebrated the Christmas holidays a little late. Several students
from UCSC collected special gifts for our students. On this day, they
brought pizza for lunch and all the gifts. After recess the children sat
in the warm February sunshine and opened their gifts. Here are a
couple of pictures from this day.
 We have recently been
on a field trip to the Natural History Museum of Santa Cruz. The students learned about the Ohlone
Indians who once thrived in this area. Here are some pictures from that
day. Learning about making fire, collecting berries, hunting deer,
and those kinds of things is fascinating. Birthdays are always big events at New Horizons School.
Each child whose birthday occurs during their time at New Horizons
School receives a birthday cake and gift. Everyone enjoys these special
days! The staff is frequently asked to make presentations to service
clubs and other organizations. This is a picture of one of the
presentation boards used on such occasions.
